Sam Watson is the Senior Vice
President for Patient Safety and Quality of the Michigan Health
& Hospital Association and the Executive Director of the MHA
Keystone Center for Patient Safety and Quality. The Center
conducts state-wide patient safety collaboratives including the
Keystone ICU, Keystone Gift of Life projects, Keystone
Hospital-Associated Infections and the recently launched
Keystone: Surgery. Additionally, Sam is responsible for quality
and patient safety policy support for the Michigan Health &
Hospital Association and is a liaison for the MHA with the Joint
Commission, American Osteopathic Associations
Healthcare
Facilities Accreditation Program, and other
agencies relating to health care quality and patient safety. Sam
also works in conjunction with the Blue Cross Blue Shield of
Michigan on Pay for Performance and speaks nationally on patient
safety.
Sam is a graduate of the Health
Research & Education Trust Patient Safety Leadership Program.
Prior to joining the MHA Keystone Center, Sam was Senior
Director of Clinical Performance Measurement in the MHA Service
Corporation (MHASC), where he was responsible for national
operations of the MHASC’s clinical data collection software
program, Core Options™, a Joint Commission approved core measure
vendor. In this position, Sam led the development, launch,
marketing and subsequent support of a clinical data abstraction
software product to capture and report on evidence based
measures.
Before joining MHASC, Sam was the
Director of Quality and Pastoral Care with a mid-Michigan
medical center. Sam has also served as adjunct faculty for
Ferris State University and Lansing Community College. He holds
a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science and a MS in Administration. |

Jamie M. Davis

Jamie Davis is the Project
Coordinator for the MHA Keystone
Center. Her primary role with the Center is data management
for
all Keystone projects and coordinator for Keystone Gift
of Life.
In addition Jamie is the point person for the web based
data collection tool and content manager for the MHA Keystone
web site. Her experiences prior to MHA include risk management
with a medical
malpractice
company
and administration
for
both single
and multiple physician practices.
Jamie
has a BBA in Health Services Administration and is a graduate
student of Western Michigan University pursuing a
Masters of Public Administration with an emphasis on health
care organizations. |

Chris
T. George, RN, MS

Chris
George is the Keystone ICU Project Coordinator for the
MHA Keystone Center. She is a Registered Nurse with
a background in Critical Care and Perioperative Services
and has held various positions in the hospital setting
including
Department Manager, Performance Improvement Coordinator
and Risk Manager. In her role as Risk Manager she developed
an
interest in Patient Safety and also functioned as the Project
Leader for the ICU Collaborative at a 250 bed community
hospital in Maryland.
Chris
has a BS in Nursing and Masters of Science in Administration. |

Kimberly
A. Sepulvado, RN

Kimberly
Sepulvado, RN is the Project
Coordinator
for the MHA Keystone
Center
Hospital Associated Infection Collaborative. Kimberly
obtained her
nursing degree from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston,
Louisiana. She also obtained a Bachelors Degree in General
Studies with dual concentration in Humanistic and Biological
Sciences from Louisiana Tech.
Kimberly
has been in the nursing field since March, 1999. For several
years she served as a bedside care provider in acute
care facilities. Kimberly has worked on Orthopedics, Med-Surg,
Telemetry, PACU, ICU and Oncology units. She has also worked
for a multi-physician Urology Clinic as the lead RN.
After
leaving the direct patient care arena, Kimberly served
as Director of Nursing for Louisiana State University in
Shreveport
(LSUS.) In this position she pioneered the Medical Services
Umbrella for the Division of Continuing Education. While
at LSUS, Kimberly began a School of Practical Nursing and
a Certified
Nursing Assistant Program. She also helped to develop programs
in Medical Terminology, Medical Coding, and Medical Transcription.
Kimberly not only performed administrative duties for these
projects, she also instructed the students in providing
quality care to patients. |

Morgan S. Martin

Morgan began pursuing her career in healthcare by attending Central Michigan University and obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Health Administration degree. Upon graduation, she then worked in the home health and hospice industry, assisting and educating patients with regard to their home medical equipment. She then attended graduate school at The Ohio State University, receiving her Master of Health Administration degree. While in graduate school, Morgan worked as an administrative resident at Holland Hospital in Holland, Michigan. Following graduation, Morgan then completed a residency at Hillsdale Community Health Center in Hillsdale, Michigan. |
